Captured in this five-minute glorification video, resident pujari, His Grace Jananivas Das, celebrates his 82nd year. Jananivas Prabhu was born in England on 19th March along with his twin brother Pankajanghri Prabhu. In 1970, both brothers travelled to India in search of spiritual answers. Whilst in Jagannath Puri, Jananivas received a copy of Bhagavad-gita As It Is. However, Jananivas joined ISKCON Kolkata temple where he received diksha from the founder acharya of ISKCON, Srila Prabhupada. Only after his brother was initiated, were they both asked by His Divine Grace to begin serving as pujaris in what was the beginning of the Mayapur temple project. Together, the twins became the first full-time pujaris in Mayapur, naturally becoming the head pujaris as the temple grew. Indeed, Jananivas helped train pujaris worldwide. Srila Prabhupada once remarked, “The two brothers Pankajanghri and Jananivas – there is no comparison. Everyone should know there is no complaint.” Sadly, Jananivas Prabhu lost his brother, Pankajanghri Prabhu, in May 2021, which was an equal loss to the ISKCON worldwide community. We honour a remarkable journey of 82 years dedicated to selfless service and devotion. A prominent figure in ISKCON, an instantly recognisable face in Mayapur, and an inspiration to countless hearts, we owe Jananivas Prabhu our deepest gratitude.

If you are missing the sublime beauty of Mayapur, one of the sweetest festivals is the boat festival carrying Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhava in Their utsav deity forms. The boat festival has its origins in the conjugal water-sporting pastimes of Vrindavan, along the Yamuna River. Srila Prabhupada wanted to recreate Lord Krishna’s mood in Mayapur, which was aided by senior pujaris, Jananivas and Pankajanghri Prabhus, over the decades since. A heartfelt and devotional presentation of the Ramayana, performed by the children of Sri Mayapur dham, complete with costumes, make-up and lighting effects. His Grace Ghanashyam Prabhu introduces the show by explaining how Srila Prabhupada enjoyed dramas, and that he coined the term “Vaikuntha children” who are not ordinary souls. Therefore, it is our community responsibility to not only look after ISKCON children but give them memorable experiences such as taking part in performances.

Lord Krishna explains in the Bhagavad Gita (4.9) that one who knows the transcendental nature of His appearance and activities does not take birth again, but instead, reaches His kingdom. Ram Navami is the divine birth of Lord Ramachandra of the epic history, Ramayana, which occurred many yugas ago. Lord Rama is the seventh incarnation of the dash-avatars and represents the ideal king, son, and husband. Before modern times, His glories extended beyond the Indian subcontinent to parts of Central Asia (along the Silk Road) and Southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar (Burma), Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia. The Ramayana was retold and reinterpreted in local languages and cultures. Carvings of the Ramayana story can be found in the famous 12th century Angkor Wat temple (Cambodia); generally regarded as the largest Hindu temple in the world. It is appropriate that Sri Dham Mayapur temple – among the largest Vedic temples in the world – should celebrate Lord Ramachandra’s birthday. In the abhishek (bathing ceremony), many hundreds of devotees came to take darshan, including Jananivas Prabhu, who can be seen pouring items onto the Shaligram Shila form of Ramachandra.

A transcendental overview of the Yajña-śālā (sacrificial arena) at TOVP Gardens, which was officially inaugurated on 11 February 2026. In this speechless video, the installation of the nitya-homa (eternal sacrificial fire) is witnessed by guests such as His Holiness Lokanath Swami.

Every four billion years, Lord Sankarshan hits the factory reset button on the entire universe. Why? Because he's so disappointed in us that after so long, we haven't learnt a thing. We're still chasing after flickering bubbles of material desires. Okay my Lord, just give me a few billion more years and I'll be ready to graduate! Promise!

Bhakti Purushottam Swami is the GBC and Chairman of Tribal Care. He has worked very hard to follow Srila Prabhupada's instructions to reach every town and village. He believes in holistic care, which means looking after the body and the soul at the same time. Because of his work, many tribal children are getting a good education and learning about Krishna. This gives them a lot of spiritual strength to deal with the modern world.
The Tribal Convention is a big event in Mayapur where hundreds of people from different tribes come together. They celebrate something called "Tri-bal," which is all about being strong spiritually, mentally, and physically. There are lots of traditional dances and kids reciting verses from the Gita. It is a great way to show that tribal communities are a very important part of India and that we should help them keep their spiritual traditions alive.
