Auspicious Purusottama Month

Also known as Adhik Māsa, meaning “extra month”, this is a special time dedicated to Lord Vishnu. According to the Padma Purāṇa, originally this month had no presiding deity like the others, so the Supreme Lord claimed it as His own. Puruṣottama Māsa occurs roughly once every 2½ to 3 years. Similar to Kārtika month, devotees increase their spiritual activities during this rare month. This could include more chanting, more devotional service, or taking some spiritual vow during the month. It is important to note that, generally, worldly affairs are not initiated during this time, such as new business ventures or weddings.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Visits Mayapur

Recently, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Suvendu Adhikari, visited the sacred land of Śrī Dhāma Māyāpur, the global headquarters of ISKCON and the birthplace of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Gaurangera Duti Pada by Atul Krishna Prabhu

In this rare footage, His Grace Atul Krishna Prabhu sings a traditional bhajan accompanied by a stringed instrument. His Grace Atul Krishna Das joined ISKCON Melbourne in 1985. He currently resides in Mayapur, where he teaches in both Bengali and English, setting high standards for śāstric study courses. This bhajan was originally composed by Śrīla Narottama Dāsa Ṭhākura and glorifies the two lotus feet of Lord Caitanya.
